A Different Kind of Lantern Festival
Seriously, things get pretty boring when it comes to the Lantern Festival. Almost every other city puts on a lantern exhibition consisting of gigantic electric lantern; for most people, you see one of these lantern and that’s all you need to see.
However, this year I’ve decided to give the exotic Lantern Festival a try. In Taiwan, celebrations in two township are known for their uniqueness – the sky lanterns of Ping Xi and the Beehive rockets of Yen Sui. Since I don’t feel like getting hit by flying rockets, the obvious choice is the Sky Lantern celebrations.
And boy was I pleased to witness such an amazing event. Even though the venue was a bit small (it’s in a small mountain village, so I guess you can’t ask for much), there were plenty of fun to go around.
My only regret is being unable to light my own sky lantern (well, it’s not likely with all these camera gears hanging around).
